The Kata Thani is best described as having a 5 Star location, and 3 Star facilities. The beach, the gardens and Kata Noi bay are of priceless beauty. Yet the hotel has for many years lacked both intelligent investment and proffessional Management. Thr restaurants, bars ( or rather lack of them) and service srandards are poor and the room facilities are very 3 star ( I stayed in a Junior Suite)

We just came back from our vacataion in Phuket 2 weeks ago.
The Kata Thani hotel is perfect with a very good atmosphere for relaxation. The room is big, nice and clean. It was very lucky for us to get this hotel as no body told us that our previous booking at Le Meriedien Phuket is cancelled although we had received confirmation and fully paid 2 months before because the Hotel postpone ther re-opening until July.
The weakness point of the hotel are the surrounding areas has no activity at all (most of the shops are still closed) and lack of public transportation. Most of the taxi / tuktuk charged at a very high price as there is only one station in front of the hotel. Therefore, we recomended to rent a car / motor bike which is more economical compare using taxi.

This is a very well run hotel, very clean, friendly service, very nice buffet style breakfast. The swimming pools are very nice. The only problem was that the beach is polluted with oil so after taking a walk on the beach you need to check your feet and remove the oil spots with petroleum. Yes, I would recommend it to a friend, I also think that it is especially suitable for families with small children.

The hotel is great and would for sure recommend it to my parents... They will for sure go this year. But not to a friend. In fact it's a bit expensive for the kind of stay we have done. A lot of activities and we haven't enjoy 100% the great facilities there are in the hotel. But as far as I saw and hear around. It's one of the best quality/price in the Phuket.

Great hotel with fine service and beach. I hade room nr 1202 and I am still wondering if it was "grand suite" with 75 sq.m. I think it was smaller. Was it "junior suite"?

The Kata Thani Hotel Phuket is the place to go if you want to chill out without the crowds. The facilities are amazing, if one pool is too noisy for you then head over to the "quiet" pool for peace and quiet. To step from the hotel grounds directly onto the beach is amazing. The rooms are lovely and spacious and have amazing views of the ocean - Junior suites or Grand suites.
Restaurants are good and the food is reasonably priced for a hotel.
This was my second stay at the hotel and already I have booked to go back again in a few months.

very nice hotel , the junior suites and grand suites are right on the beach. the beach is very nice and very clean. however the ground floor rooms are occupied by families so very noisy rooms. generally the walls are so thin so you hear all noise from next door. The hotel is far from the airport about 45 minuiet drive. we booked the junior suite which was right on the beach but very noisy. the hotel does not have a private beach so you have to pay for the umbrella and chairs about 200baht daily. breakfast is fantastic. the fish resturant is very nice but dont eat at the thai resturant food very disappointing. there is an open buffet everynight with different theme for about 1250 baht per person. and there are some nice resturnats near. we changed room three times from the noise which we were not happy about. next time i would book the grand room .

A fantastic hotel and amazing room. We booked a junior suite in the Thani wing but were upgraded to a grand suite -amazing. Great location and as the only hotel on the beach makes it a 'private' beach although tecnically public. Lovely pools and cocktail happy hour - must have Tropical Dream. All staff very friendly. restaurants great- especially the Italian. The ladies doing massages and manicures was a nice touch and they didnt pester you - just sat quietly until approached (employed by hotel). Can walk or get tuk-tuk into town where many other restaurants. For a treat go to Mom Tris just up on the cliff at the right end of the hotel beach. Great views and fantastic food. Will definately return.

Great place to stay but you are away from good restaurants and bars. Breakfast was amazing and parts changed daily so you did not get bored, good size room, great view of the ocean from our deck.
Nice quite beach, there are not hoards of people.
The one minor problem is there is not a lot there outside the resort, you need to go to the next bay at least to get better shopping and variety.
The Tuk Tuk drivers are rude & expensive so you are better off taking a taxi that is air conditioned, faster and in most cases the same price.
