The best beach I have stayed at...
The best beach I have stayed at in either Bali, Thailand or Fiji. Crystal clear water, very small waves, pristine sand. The sun beds are a respectful distance from each other so you're not hearing other conversations. We stayed in a newly renovated beach bungalow, but honestly, a hillside bungalow may be 80 steps from the beach, but you have wonderful views. We tended to speand most of the day on the beach and the bungalows don't really vary inside so a hillside would have sufficed. If anything the rooms are a little small. The bathrooms are huge, but the sofa is at the end of the bed and could have done with a little more leg-room (this is the only quibble!). The staff at the hotel are superb. The food is very good. The spa is a little expensive, (but then the alternative is to get a car into Patong to another spa and that would nullify any saving to be had). Patong is getting seedier each time I visit, but The Chedi is 10 mins from town so you have your privacy but are close enough to the action if you need a night out. I would thoroughly recommend The Chedi for a romantic getaway and we look forward to going back as soon as we can!
