We booked through Asia Rooms and everything...
We booked through Asia Rooms and everything went extremely smoothly. Reception staff greeted us in a friendly manner and the porters were helpful taking our luggage to our suite. We were thrilled to be given a lovely suite on the 3rd floor, and the view was wonderful.
The bathroom was large with separate shower cubicle, fresh towels left for us every day and complimentary toiletries if needed.
Our bed was very comfortable and at 6ft wide, amazing!! The balcony was lovely and spacious also.
We had 2 day beds in the suite also.
Each day the maid would service the room extremely well, leaving the room door open as she worked, however only once did the evening staff spray the mozzi repellant thoroughly underneath the pelmets, where the blighters would hide until we went to sleep. Air con was very efficient but we still managed to wake up with at least 6 fresh bites each day, no matter how much repellant we applied to our skin.
The staff in the dining room were really sweet, and breakfast was a huge selection of everything you could possibly want, to suit all nationalities. One critisism though would be that the bain maries holding hot food were not replenished frequently enough, so they were often empty for quite a while. We did use the dining room for evening dinner once and the food was excellent and so was the presentation, however it did work out quite a bit more expensive that in town, owing to the service charge and VAT.
The 2 pools were very nice, and cleaned regularly. The only downside to sunbathing around the pool during our first week, was that about a dozen guests of a certain nationality thought it perfectly OK to chain smoke around and inside the swimming pool, stubbing out their ciggies in the plants, decorating the centrepiece of the pool. I would like to see the staff at the hotel stamp this out as it was totally out of order in many guests opinion. The complimentary fruit kebabs at lunchtime were a nice touch though.
The beach was not very clean and the sea didn't look too inviting at this time of year, being low season. We spent much of our time during the first week around the pools. The second week unfortunately we had rain for the majority of the time, so had to spend much of the day either shopping in the town/Jungceylon, or in our suite. Had to use the taxis from outside the hotel, as it was too far for me to walk, with a back injury. Beware of being ripped off though, if you do decide to do an island tour with them. They will take you to the Gems factory or cashew nut factory as they get given fuel vouchers, so if you are not interesting in parting with huge amounts of money at the Gems factory or not interested in cashews please be firm with them before you get into the taxi. We had not been warned beforehand.
Would probably stay here again, but have many places to visit before returning to Patong.
