The day we arrived, there was no electricity on most of Patong for most of the day. There is still quite a bit of construction that is going on in Patong which is the speculated reason the electricity was cut off. It was not cut off again for the balance of our stay. The signboards on many of the locations still under construction claimed that most of them would be ready by mid Nov-05 but looking at the stage they are at now, I cannot imagine that they will be ready. However, there is enough of Patong open at the moment for a great holiday.
The location of this hotel is fabulous. Firstly it is on the beach which equally accessible to the rest of Patong. The entrance to the hotel is just outside the Boots Store on Patong. We had the City Deluxe Room which had our balcony to the main Patong Street - they had double sliding doors on them so much of the noise was filtered out - you could still hear the street - however nothing that a good active day on the beach and a good dose of alcohol cannot fix.
Breakfast is not wonderful - but this is a small issue.
The hotel was only half full when we stayed in mid Oct-05 as it was considered still Off-Peak season but the pool deck chairs were full every morning if you got there at 10am. The pool is not big. There is still plenty of deck chairs on the beach but I am not sure if you had to pay for them as they seemed to be independently run from the hotel by the beach boys.
