The Racha hotel was a fantastic place...
The Racha hotel was a fantastic place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our 6 nights there.
The resort is modern and clean and the staff, like everywhere in Thailand, are friendly snd helpful.
The island is quiet and remote so ideal for those looking for a relaxing getaway rather than the hustle bustle of the main land.
Despite the hotel being 90% full whilst we were there, most of the guests are in couples so keep themsleves to themselves and by 9.00pm the resort is practiclary deserted.
The island does get a lot of day trippers who arrive around 10.00 and leave around 3.00 but for the most part they do not disturbe your privacy. They are not permitted to use the hotel facitlties but do use the beach.
We would happily recommend this hotel to others and wish we were there now!
i was a little surprised when I...
i was a little surprised when I arived at the Racha. I expected it to be more exclusive and secluded. Instead we had a room that was a few steps away from a public beach, very exposed. On the second day we upgraded to a pool villa, which was fanatstic, but again a little exposed due to the workmen walking past to renovate the lighthouse ( in fairness we were warned of this). The pool villa is amazing though and so much better value for money than the villa with plinge pool we had booked. this was basically an average size hotel room in it's own building with a plunge pool at the back which could not be used as it did not get any sun. I would not reccomend booking this, spend the extra on a pool villa, it's miles better worth every penny.
Service at the Racha was not up to the level I had expected, communication was difficult and it sometimes seemed like the staff didn't really care too much about the guests.
it was also much less sophisticated than I thought it would be, there is a definate air of posh butlins about it, right down to the "today's activities" board.
to sum up, it's beuatiful and the pool villa is amazing but it the racha itself lacks a certain amount of chic.

A very exclusive beach front resort that's meant more for honeymooners and couples. Imagine brilliant blue sky as the setting with crystak clear azure waters accompanied by talcum white beach.
But the service pales in comparison. The staff is not very friendly nor helpful. And definely not a service with a smile kind of place.
So just go for a good stay but if you want a complete experience, The Racha falls short on it.

The Racha is one resort which looks exactly like what they've featured in their website. The room and bathroom are very very spacious but will be good if they can add on more storage shelves. I'm simply in love with the beach, sea & sky @ The Racha. Its absolutely breathtaking. Everything is perfect except for the quality of services. Its not poor but its way below my expectations for an exclusive resort like The Racha.

I and my boyfriend stayed at deluxe...
I and my boyfriend stayed at deluxe room. The bathroom is perfect! The bathroom enclosed transparent window. So the sun is shining brightly and That have 3 showers and big bathtub.
also The room is in excellent taste too. But Hotel's restaurant is very expensive. Guest can not go another places for dinner.
because The island is shrouded in deep night darkness. I advice to get another beach for lunch by bicycle. It is very fun adventure !
The Racha was the most beautiful island...
The Racha was the most beautiful island resort we have ever been too. The rooms were so beautiful. We were given a gorgeous room that has a partial ocean view and we enjoyed sitting on our balcony reading on the day bed.
A very clean and special resort that we will always go back too.

We have visited Thailand every year for the past ten years and stayed at many different hotels. This was the best ever the service, facilities, location and the personal touches all made this location really something special. Plenty to to whether you want to relax at the pool ,spa or do yoga or for the more adventurous you can hire kayaks, ATV, windsurfers scuba diving and fitness centre. If there was any critisism you didnt know what the menu was on offer in each restaurant until you sat down some discreet (so as not to spoil the ambience) advertisement would have been helpful. Choice however was really good. This location really was the paradise resort we all look for. We will be visiting next year.

The Racha was a very nice property. The rooms are well appointed, the island is very nice, the staff is very courteous, but they are definitely still trying to figure out how to best use their resources to provide their guests a superior level of service. There are plenty of people working at The Racha the problem is that many of them are simply standing around the front desk. The service was a 5 out of 10 but with proper management there is definite potential. Also, their AC units in the Ocean Villa's don't cool down the space as we had hoped. It should just be an on/off switch because it makes no difference what you set the thermostat at. It cools the room down just enough to be tolerable but not enough for those who like their rooms a tad on the cold side. If you get a chance to go, borrow one of the mountain bikes and take it to the Hippie Bar. It's a great little ocean-front bar right on the sand situated in a nice quiet cove about 10 minutes away. Sop owns the bar and makes the best BarBQ chicken in Thailand. Tell him Luis sent you.
