We were very pleased overall. There was a problem with our reservation but the hotel fell all over themselves trying to make things right. They even booked us into another hotel for one night while they sorted out or room and moved us back the next night. They even drove us there! We found the service friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an ideal location: Across the street from the beach, Mini-buses to Phuket City stop almost on their doorstep and there are a wide range of restaurants within very easy walking distance. We would definitely stay there again.

My friend and i had been travelling around southeast asia for 5 weeks and had come to Phuket for a relaxing week to end our holiday.
Sugarpalm was an excellent place to stay. The buffet breakfast was amazing..they had everything you can imagine! Its located just off the main street and only a few minutes walk from the beach. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were very spacious, clean and modern.
Our stay at sugarpalm was fantastic, highly recommeded.

The Sugar Palm is as close to the beach as it gets in Karon as we quickly learned upon arriving that the road separates all hotels from the actual public beach. Although Phuket is far too busy for our taste, and we would not likely go back, the Sugar Palm made our stay there relaxing. The facilities are clean and very modern. The bathrooms are large as is the bedroom space. If I could make one suggestion (and an insignificant one at that), it would be to add some towel hooks on the back of the bathroom door.

It took us almost 1,5 hrs to check in cause they messed up our reservation made via internet. Finally they gave us one room, although I reserved two. Renegotiating resulted in a second, totally run-down, room, they organized then elsewhere. Positive: After another 1 hour discussion the next morning, they gave us 1.500 Baht refund for that second room afterwards.
The only thing that let this hotel...
The only thing that let this hotel down was the reception staff. They were slow and took ages to rectify any problems.
First night we had a king size bed (2 females) although we asked for a twin room. They changed it the next day. There was also a problem with the electrics which they pretended to know nothing about. They didnt fix it and put someone else straight into the room who then subsequently complained.
Second day I realised a pair of shoes were missing - possible left in room 1. It took THREE DAYS for them to tell me they hadnt been found. I chased 3 times.
Other than that? Breakfast was pretty good, pool was great, rooms great and location is right by the beach!
I would stay here again - provided Reception get there acts together!
Sugar Palm is literally less than a...
Sugar Palm is literally less than a 5 minute walk to Karon Beach. They say 2 minutes on their hotel web site, but you have to take into consideration you have to dodge the traffic to get to the other side of the road where the beach is! ;) Rooms are awesome. The could use an on-site spa facility. I was disappointed to find out they didn't have one. The staff should comprehend more English. Their English is limited. For me, I didn't have much of a problem since I'm Thai-American and I can get the gist of what they're saying and respond back. I feel for the hotel guests who do NOT speak or understand Thai or Yawai (the local dialect). The room and bathroom was nice. Even though I requested and PAID for a deluxe pool view room, I was given a room that faced another hotel's pool! But by then, I already had unpacked a third of my stuff after traveling nearly 24 hours from LAX to BKK to HKT that I didn't want to bother to change it. The seat up was much more efficient than the actual deluxe pool view, which my friend ended up getting. But that's my preference. :)

This hotel was worth every cent! We booked the pool access room and used the pool every single day. The best part was that you could get cheap and yummy street food just a short walk away from the hotel. Despite the fantastic location, the hotel atmosphere itself was quiet and serene. Definitely one of my favourite hotels in Phuket. Will try the other Sugar Palm hotel the next time I visit Phuket.
