Overall a pleasnt experience
Overall experience with Sugar Palm Karon is quite pleasant. I booked the hotel early and is able to get a relatively
good bargain of 2250 Baht per night.
Arrangement for transport to and from the Phuket airport was straight forward and easy, though
I find it a bit steep at a total of 1800 Baht for 2 way trip for 2 person but at least my girlfriend and I have a peace
of mind that we do not have to spend time bargaining with Tuk Tuk drivers or be taken for a ride.
The transport vehicle is a Toyota Cambry, which is surprisingly clean.
So if you are travelling in large groups of 4 to 8 (They charge on a per car basis),
you can split the transport cost which is quite a bargain for comfort.
The receptionists are able to speak fairly decent English and are helpful.
When both of us ate something wrong at one of the restaurants nearby, the lady was able to direct us to a clinic near Karon Beach.
However I was a bit disappointed that there is no simple medication (for diarrhoea) available at the reception.
I had to go to the 7-11 nearby at 4am to look for medicine which is unavailable also.
It is not the hotel's fault, but I think they can improve on this.
There are quite a number of DVD available to rent for free, so if you decide to bum in the hotel,
at least you would not be bored. Other than that they have free internet access and a long swimming pool
and that's about it.
