Excellent jewel resort
Booked this hotel for 3 nights. It is located nested in a jungle/beach environment by AoSarn public beach. Small road to get up to it, not all taxi drivers may know how to get there. Written Thai directions can be helpful to have. Wonderful reception staff greeted us at the car and was very efficient. Wooden stand alone bungalow was secluded, but worn from wear by heavy use and weather. Poor AC and door lock didn't work.Watch for snakes and mosquitos as this resort is literally in the jungle. But, overall the location was so wonderful, romantic and sported a great private beach and relaxation deck. You will need to have a car or rent a motorbike (avl at desk) to get into the main stream of things in Rawaii or beyond. Overall we were sad to leave this jewel and will go back to stay on our next vacation to the area!

A jewel of a hotel! Perfectly situated for those we want a romantic, quiet, nature filled, beautiful resort. The surroundings were amazing. Beautiful views while walking from the hotel to the Nan Hearn beach 15 minutes away. Breathtaking views actually. Wonderful room. It was our 20th Anniversary and they made it special with rose petals and hearts on our bed. If you are the type who wants lots of night life look in Patong. If however what you are coming to Thailand for is the natural beauty this is your place. The breakfasts were very tasty. Would not recommend their dinners as they are expensive and not as tasty as you can find in town. Highly recommended restuarant is Nee (we ate there every day for 5 days. Unbelievably delicious local Thai food. Enjoy this wonderful hotel and town. We will be back!

Many thanks to Asiarooms for all reservations made. Good quality for a good value. We were at Baan in April 2009 and were admired by everything: location, facilities, service. It is an excelent choice for the people looking for a secluded place. There are a very clean, beautifull sea with a lot of corals and nice fish perfect for snorkeling, silence of the jungle, birds singing all the day and the walking distance to the Nai Harn Beach (about 20 minutes through the jungle along the sea, up and down the hills - good exercesise instead of fitnessclub). Breacfast is good. There is a wonderfull Thai massage near Nai Harn Beach, just behind All seasons hotel, the woman whose name is Khud Nom is very professional. I would recomend Baan Krating for the people who likes nature, silence, healthy vacation.

Great place for a short stay !...
Great place for a short stay ! For longer stay I will recommand to rent a car or a vespa, as the hotel is quite isolated on the south of the Island. The service in general and the food at the restaurant were really good. The only negative points would be the cleanliness of the room :-( Please wipe the floor at least once during a long stay ! and the poor shuttle services (only to Nai Harn beach and only 4x a day)!

When we arrived, the room we had booked was not available, so reception upgraded me for free. They allowed me to check in early, at 9:30am, use the room (that was still being cleaned) to change into swimming wear, and offered overall spectacular service. They were helpful and attentive.

This hotels was lovely, great snorkelling at the beach (unfortunate that there are no beach chairs for hotel guest, run by locals), the pool was in a little bit of a shadded area, but cute. The rooms were very nice, clean. The only negative about this hotel is that it is on many hills which could be difficult for some people to manage

We were the second time in the Baan Krating Phuket. We like the silence of the location and the closeness to the Nai Harn Beach. The service ist good. The hotel and the rooms are clean. The breakfast is ok. It would be desirable if there are cheese, roll and more different sausage.

The hotel is absolutely lovely. The rooms are very generous in size, clean and good value for money and the setting is amazing. The beach is not private but shared with the neighbouring bungalows but is very nice. nice view with a coral reef just off shore! Great for snorkling. Beach bar is not the best. Few sun beds. Doesn't get much sun and needs some floor covering. Best to sit on beach or pay for sun beds on the beach. Pool is gorgeous and not often very busy. We stayed in a Beach View pavillion room but we didn't have a beach view, we were one row back unfortunately and could just make out the sea from our terrace. But lovely jungle setting and jungle view. Hotel was very expensive. Food is good but over priced with extras that are charged to price - service/tax etc. There is a much cheaper restaurant next door at the Ao Sane bungalows. Food is also better here but setting/venue is more catered to back packers. Service at hotel is very good with most staff speaking very good english. Also be prepared for lots of stairs to everything - beach, restaurant, reception, rooms, etc. Not steep but many. Location is the only down side. Setting cannot be faulted with exotic jungle/fruits/birds/gekkos etc, but walk from nearest local resort (Nai Harn) is 10 minutes of hills which can be difficult in the heat of the day. Hotel do little to help. Free bus every 2 hours until 4pm. They also charge a lot to organise taxis/tours/car hire (usually extra 100-300 bht seems to be hidden in price). Always book these at other resorts (i.e. street tour traders) as MUCH cheaper. Nearest Nai Harn beach is nice but a bit quiet and dominated by Royal Yacht club. Good local bus links from Nai Harn (40 Bht) to Phuket Town where you can get local buses to Karon and Kata beaches (30 bht) and elsewhere but takes ages as they travel at 5 mph. Only access direct to Karon et al (which are recommended for good beaches/dining and a litle more life) from Nai Harn beach is taxi/Tuk Tuk which can be expensive (350/400 bht). Did feel a bit isolated as a result of this difficulty. Spent a lot of money on travel. Recommend hiring a car to have a bit of independence. Hotel great if you literally want to do nothing and stay at the hotel. But if you want to go to other beaches, explore the island, or go to lots of good restaurants elsewhere on island, can be difficult from Baan Krating - taxi drivers laugh and are reluctant to take you all the way to the hotel. Will normally only drop you at Nai Harn beach. James Bond Island tour with Diamond Princess tours is much cheaper than others (1300 bht each and well worth it) Phi Phi is also worth a trip too. Difficult to do (esp from hotel) without joining a tour though. We also stayed at Baan Krating for christmas day which we thought was a bit of a let down. They had a BIG organised celebration on Christmas Eve but took most of the decorations down by the morning of Christmas Day?? Overall we had a fabulous holiday and the hotel was a little slice of luxury/paradise. We probably would stay there again and recommend it to others. Just know what you are going to get and be prepared to pay lots for the priviledge. Not necessarily for the room but for the travel.

Baan Krating is an excellent place for...
Baan Krating is an excellent place for vacationers looking for peace and nature. This is a place which is very different from the life of the west coast beaches Karon, Kata and Patong. This is a tropical resort in Thailand and not an amusement park or red light district. This is a place where you can recover from a stressful daily life. The small beach and coral reaf at the resort provides the beach and sea life of a tropical island and it is also perfect for children. The only negative thing about the resort is the restaurant, which really needs improvement with regard to the menu and food served.
