Upon arrival, I was already wowed at its appearance. It was more than what I had expected with my boyfriend. Everything was totally resort style, from the hotel lobby to the rooms. While checking in, we were served with some kind of welcome drink which had a uniquely refreshing taste to it as well as a cold moist towel for us to use as the weather there was very hot. The staff there were all very friendly and spoke understandable English. They were burning aromatic oils around the lobby area and it was very refreshing. When I used the lobby's toilet, I was surprised that they even burnt aromatic oils inside. The only BAD point was that the internet service provided by the hotel (chargeable) was too slow and the local telephone charges were too expensive. However, these were minor flaws as there were many phone booths and internet cafes around the area. When we entered our room, we were greeted with a nicely done bed with roses, orchids and lemon grass decorations made into the words "Happy Honeymoon" and a heart shape. It was really sweet of them. There was also a safe in the cupboard to put our valuables. One day there was a problem with my safe, but they had it sorted out asap. The toilet however, had no bathtub, there was just a showerhead for bathing. The hotel also has a rather small but clean pool with a jacuzzi area which allows one to have a nice dip in the pool after a hot day at the beach. Nice trees and plants are placed nicely around the pool for that perfect resort style feel. The hotel's location is one of the most perfect. Its entrance is at the main road, unlike some others where you need to walk a fair distance down a driveway to reach the hotel's main entrance. Going to the beach is really a breeeze. Just 2 mins away from the beach's main entrance. There were many shops within walking distance from the hotel too. Phuket night spots along bangla road is within 15 mins walking from the hotel. This makes the hotel one of the most convenient to many locations on Patong beach. Try and stay near the centre or south of Patong beach as that is the most active areas. To sum it up, it was an unforgettable stay at Salathai.
