I have stayed here on my past three consecutive visits to Phuket. I like the large room size. The bed consists of two single mattresses side by side on a platform, with separate bed linens, so a couple wanting to get close has to do a certain amount of maneuvering, but it works okay. The bathroom has a bathtub and separate stall shower, which many resorts do not offer. The rooms are very clean and the decor is nice. The pool is large, although fairly narrow, and there is a section with jacuzzi jets. The breakfast is adequate but not very special. One negative is their booking policy. Whether you book through an agency such as AsiaRooms or book direct with the hotel (I have done both), you have to pay for your entire stay in advance and if you leave sooner you are charged a penalty fee of one night's stay - even in low season when there is no great demand for rooms. I consider that to be highway robbery. Nevertheless, I will continue to return to the Kata Poolside. The location is very good, near the beach, and I think the resort is a great value.
