Oh dear!
The public areas of this hotel are lovely, as are the staff. The rooms though leave something to be desired - they are the size and quality I would expect for a 1,000 baht per night hotel but not for this price. Our room was poky and dirty so we asked to change. Nothing else was available so we had to pay to upgrade just to get a clean room! Quality of food at breakfast also poor. This is the third different hotel I have stayed at on Phuket and is the only one I would not return to.

Loved this place - it is a...
Loved this place - it is a small boutique hotel but has two pools (one for each wing) and large common areas so it doesn't feel crowded. With piped music, newspapers, comfy leather armchairs, free internet room etc it feels a bit like a private club - it is chilled and relaxing - the photos give an accurate idea of what it is like. Friendly atmosphere amongst the guests (all either Scandanavian or Aussie it seems at this time of year) and the staff are helpful/pleasant and can speak ok English. I booked for one night and am still here a week later, don't want to leave! I upgraded to a larger room after a couple of days as the standard room is a bit tight - but the studios are large with a big balcony and much bigger bathroom so are worth the extra. Plasma TV has good range of English channels including Australia TV for the AFL finals :-) Breakfast is very good. Location is excellent; a short walk across a quiet road and through the park to the beach which has lots of beachfront restaurants and a very upmarket beach bar/club for cocktails to watch the sunset (like Ku-de-ta bar in Seminyak, Bali- tres chic) - Surin is a beautiful beach and you don't get hassled, its relaxed. Also, the resort has its own free sundecks, towels etc on the beach. What's not to like? I am highly recommending this place to friends back home in Melbourne already!

Beautiful hotel but only skin deep... your...
Beautiful hotel but only skin deep... your money is better spent else where... The hotel looks amazing in photographs... Sadly the photos are somewhat old as the hotel is in a slight state of disrepair. the room is unclean and when asked for the maid to re-clean the dirt and dead insects were simply brushed under the bed and tables. on an upside the front of house staff are great polite and welcoming where as the back of house staff are noisy, rude and don't seem to understand that its a hotel therefor, shouting, maintenance work and music is not the best thing to do at 11pm. Beach is clean and stunning but the "hotel club sun loungers have seen better days and could to with a good tidy up or skipped.

My husband and I loved our stay...
My husband and I loved our stay at the Manathai, we booked a Deluxe Room but they were being renovated so we had an upgrade to a one bedroom suite which was fantastic over the Lanai pool. It was Luxury and well worth the money. The staff were very friendly and the owner was charming and pays a lot of attention to the hotel, customers and staff we were very impressed. The buffet breakfast was very good and eggs cooked to your taste. The hotel was very Thai and stylish and the beach was across the road where sunbeds and towels were provided. We have no hesitation to reccommend the Manathai to couples and Surin Beach is good but the sea can be rough at times. There is a good choice of restaurants and bars in the area but if you want night life then Patong is about 20mins by Taxi, Enjoy!we did.

What a beautiful hotel the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was quiet and relaxing. The beach is beautiful. I loved the look of the hotel and the atmosphere was just what we wanted.Great holiday

We stayed in a luxury suite with own patio and private dipping pool. The rooms are quite tastefully appointed and decorated. However, the location is pretty poor..too far away fr any entertainment and shops..resort is in surin beach, which is 30 mins car ride fr patong beach...good for romantics though..needs fogging as sometimes mosquitoes can fly in when you open the door/balcony door....restaurants at surin beach are few and far between...we tried pla seafood and ordered basic meals which cost up nearly 180,000 baht (with no alcohol)...abit too pricey for a quiet place....staff service is excellent as there are not many rooms...probably wont stay there again sorry...

This Boutique Hotel is nice and cosy. Surin Beach location is beautiful and away from the craziness of Patong. I would recommand the Hotel but not the basic rooms, very small (we got upgraded). The spa and pools are very nice with a cool pool bar. The restaurant breakfast is basic (they do not serve fresh juices, for a 4 start Boutique Hotel, it is a pity). But you can find lots of nice beach restaurants with fresh juices and also fresh sea fish on the BBQ. The staff is friendly. Be careful, the hotel is under renovation right now so we had some water cuts in our room the last 2 days of our stay.
