Hotel is near to both Kata and...
Hotel is near to both Kata and Karon Beach, although some may think the walking distance (10mins) under the hot sun is a little too much. I found it okay.
It's a rather basic hotel with some frills like a swimming pool, but don't expect too much. The included breakfast buffet is nothing fancy. However, service is good here and everyone is kind and helpful.
There were red ants at the reception area and I was initially quite put off by that, but the rooms and other parts of the hotel were spotless (no unwanted bugs). The swimming pool was a trifle small but beautiful and a nice place to relax (besides the beaches nearby, I mean).
I had a standard single room but even that came with a private balcony with 2 chairs. There is a bar called the "Ping Pong Bar" just across the street from my room (number 31), and the dance music and noise in the night can be loud, to the extent that it kept me up until 1am, even after I closed the balcony door.
To sum it up, the strengths of this hotel is the friendly service and smiles of the staff, the spacious and comfortable rooms, the proximity to Karon and Kata Beach, and the nice pool.
The not-so-good is the costly internet (100baht for 30mins) and the fact that it might be too "basic" for some, in terms of its appearance. I found it homely and cosy, but it's subjective, I guess.
I definitely would stay at this hotel again. Good value.
