Firstly I have so say I am...
Firstly I have so say I am making this review while the hotel was on "soft opening", but I therefore feel my points are possibly more valid and I hope that Millenium Hotel Management read them.
The rooms were lovely, very spacious and comfortable. The hotel was still partially being built while we stayed there, but this did not in any way affect my stay. I was there for 5 days and the biggest thing that stuck out to me was the quality of the finished around the hotel. I would expect to be a 5 star hotel as they claim it is, for all finishes to be perfect, but some of the decorating and tile grouting and mastiking in the hotel building and indeed the rooms was real bad. Whoever the building site manager is on this development needs to be sacked, because there isnt any attention to detail. This said it wont affect your stay by having bad painting!!
The biggest gripe for me was the pool area. Firstly the stone used as the floor surface around the pool is not adequate enough because soon as it get wet its like an ice rink. I went over nearly and i saw plenty of others acutally fall over. Imagine if someone elderly slipped, what then!! this is a a serious health risk I belive needs sorting. The pool bar staff were all very friendly and helpful, but they had a large music player banging out hip hop music full blast. Many of the more expensive rooms go out onto the pool and therefore the pool bar area. If I had paid for an expensice 5 star room to be met by hip hop all day long I wouldnt be happy! Fine if it was a youngsters hotel, but this estblishment is clearly aiming for the high end market. Quite the loud repetitive hip hop and im sure people could chill out much easier!!
Finally we were late up one day (3pm) and room was not made up. Most other 5 star hotels leave a calling card, so didnt even get a change of towels that day until we called housekeeping at 7pm to get some!
Only 1/2 the hotel was open when I stayed there so it may all get much better when complete. What I will say is the location is perfect, being right in the centre of Patong and attached to the new Jungylon shopping complex.
After this hotel I went to another Millenium hotel in Bangok (Grand Millenium Sukhumvhit). Now this hotel was 100% A Class all the way! So Millenium hotels can get it right if they try! I hope they do with this one in Patong! :)
Hope that helps
