A week in Kata beach

The Ibis is exactly what it claims to be, Budget accommodation. Everything is very workable and clean however the size of the room is simply not big enough. The bathroom is very small. 2 people could not possibly fit in at the same time. But for one person the room is fine - that is if you dont want to spend any more than sleeping time in it. The breakfast is very very poor.

I stayed in Ibis kata from 17th...

I stayed in Ibis kata from 17th mar to 20th mar. The hotel is hidden behind a construction site and maybe because it was opened last yr, the taxi driver cannot find the hotel. Hotel located about 10mins from kata beach, but a distance away from the kata night plaza and the bars, restaurants. I arrived late night and asked for room service and to my surprise, the reception told me to go down to the bar to order, after a few mins of arguing that I want room service, the receptionist told me that she will order for us but we have to collect it at the bar ourselves. The room was in a moderate size, but full of Mosquitos, me and my husband spent an hour snapping at the Mosquitos. When we arrived, there are no hand towels, the tissue box was not refilled, there were dusts and pens under the sofa. The next day, after house keeping, they did not replenish the complimentary bottles of water. I paid thb1000 for an extension of room till 6.30pm for checking out, the receptionist called me at 6.30pm and told me that I should check out at 6pm instead. I argued that we paid for extension till 6.30pm but they insists that 6pm is the latest time, shall not they will charge another day charge. As for amenities, this hotel has no disposable toothbrush or toothpaste. As for the bathroom, the bathing area is so so so small till that if you are big size, you will have difficult fitting in. Lastly, I wonder is this hotel made up of boards, basically you can hear the footsteps of ppl walking along the corridor, ppl talking, the opening and closing of neighbours's doors. The room was absolutely not sound proof at all.
