Good value
We found the room to be very nice, lovely, modern and clean. The only issue was it smelt badly...like a toilet.... as does much of Patong so we bought air fresheners lol. It can be a bit loud at night so don't stay here if you can't sleep through music. Overall it is good value.
I can confidently recommend this Hotel if you are after better Hotel than the average Hotel on offer in Patong . Though the rates reflect this.
This Hotel is New ,and is very Clean ,Staff are Friendly.
Location is excellent though Close to Patong's infamous area ,it is not too close and is actually rather Quite, with the main Shopping Area a Block away, Patong Beach is a 10 minutes walk away .
We stayed in I believe the Lantern Resorts Deluxe Room which is a larger room than their Normal Superior Room on Offer at this Hotel ,and is recommended if Budget permits.
Though this has two nice pools I would not Classify this as a Resort as the Name would Suggest but rather a Nicely Layed out Hotel.
Buffet Breakfast was just Okay,with not a lot on offer ,and could be Better .
Note; the Hotel was rather empty when we stayed ,I noticed the Ceramic Floors in the Hall ways may cause an issue with carrying Noise as they echoed badly on Doors closing,but this was only a minor issue .

Satisfactory Stay
Very near to shopping mall and easily access to most of restaurant of choice.
Walking distance to patong beach and nightlife.
Don't book the tour package when arrive at the airport ended up over charge.
Easily can get the tour package along the patong streets. There are a lot of tour agent and can bargain for cheap tour package.

Very Poor
The Hotel is excellently situated for the nightlife of Patong and the property is new.
We were given two rooms on the second floor facing each other.There was used dinner plates from Room Service in the corridor outside our room on the floor.
The bathroom was excellent however the bedroom which was very large only had a bed and two small bedside cabinets and a chair. The furniture shown on the their internet site was missing and we were told that because the Hotel was new it had not arrived. There was no chairs or table on the balcony.
The AC Unit in both rooms was very noisy due to the filters being blocked but once cleaned were perfect.
One of our two rooms had its balcony facing a Beer Garden Disco where the music and motor bike sounds went on very loud indeed until 5-00am. They changed this room for us after one night but immediately put others in it.
It was also impossible to sleep at night because of doors banging in the corridor.This was due to there being no door seals on the doors. It was wood to wood and every time someone closed their door it had a loud bang with it.
The breakfast was the worst we have ever experienced at any hotel. Little or no choice and the same everyday.Even the bread was stale.
The staff however were all nice people but most out of their depth.
I personally explained all of the above to the Owner who promised his immediate attention and gave me his apologies. He actually welcomed my comments.

modern hotel in center of patong!
If you are looking for a hotel in close proximity to the clubs, restaurant and patong beach then this is the hotel for you. For the price the accommodation was a lot nicer than expected with no complaints at all, the bathroom was spacious and the bedroom was fitted out nicely with a king size bed. It made our stay very comfortable and we would happily stay here again, the staff were polite and efficient and provided us with a late check out free of charge.
This hotel is brand new and in excellent condition as you would expect.

There is little or no signage to identify The Lantern, only the words "The Lantern" written in smallish letters at the top of the blue window awnings.
Restaurant and pools are good.
Some things I found to be very poor was that there were no reading type or bedside lamps in the bedroom. You had to turn off the light at the door then get into bed in the dark.
Also the sound proofing between the passageways and the rooms was poor. The was a lot of noise from other guests. This problem probably cause by tiles and concrete, no carpet to deaden the noise.
It was also a pleasant surprise to find the bed to be King size and soft unlike most other places I have stayed in Thailand.
I found the Lantern be well located, just behind Jung Ceylon and to be good value.

Convenient location
The resort was so convenient to Jung Ceylon - air conditioned shopping and the nightlife and markets. The one bedroom apartment was great so could separate 18 month old and still enjoy. Would definitely look to come back to Lantern Resort.
