A bit of a misnomer!
The resort bills itself as a "beach resort," and although it is 200 m from a "beach" that beach is not really a swimmable beach. The hotel offers shuttles to the quaint, small, but busy Yanui Beach on the far southwest tip of Phuket, which is quite picturesque (although the coral has been all stamped down), but the shuttle times are a bit off kilter: 10, 11, and 4 pm rides. They could offer more. What the "beach" really is at this hotel is a 2nd floor pool with a "sandy beach" on one end. It's great for small kids, and my 3 year old loved it, but it's not for older kids at all. The water was a bit green as well. The larger pool is quite large, but has nothing really for kids to enjoy, no slide, no real shallow end. It's a bit of a stretch to call this a great Phuket hotel for kids. The pool when we visited in December was rather cool, and there were a lot of leaves at the bottom (as well as paper trash from the renovation). The food was average and pricey, we ate mostly at a few small restaurants just 100 m away, and there are many more about 1 km down the beach towards Rawai. Lastly, some of the steps leading to the luxury doubles were over water, and difficult to manage. During out stay one elderly person tripped and fell. The family rooms on the 2nd floor are large, but not large enough to ensure privacy with a mother in law in tow. On average, it was a pleasant stay, but I think in the future we will not return.
