Good location across the road from a nice sandy beach. Near to National Park (5 minutes walk), a few seafood restaurants nearby, close to a fishing village at end of beach (10 minutes walk). The sandy beach has many tiny crabs running around and the line of trees along the beach means lots of birds singing too.
We were on the 7th floor (out of 9 floors) with good views and a nice breeze, no insects. The room was clean and the bathroom looked newly refitted with hot shower. But the dark red color was a bit dated and the strong shower led to some water flooding the floor near the basin. The room had a TV, a fridge and a safe. The beds were a bit too soft. The balcony was OK with somewhere for drying clothes and watching the passers by.
The staff were friendly with someone to help us with the luggage on arrival and the restaurant staff were friendly but a bit slow...the menu was a good variety and low prices, including steaks, and various meats as well as seafood, Thai and western styles of cooking. It is a lazy beach holiday place not a business hotel.
There was some rubbish on the beach from being washed up by the tide. Some areas are cleared up but others left. So the locals could do more to clean up the beach, to attract more visitors. The hotel has a small clean swimming pool on the 3rd floor. The sea is shallow so easy to swim. On the weekend there are possibilities for bannana boats, etc.
A 10 minute drive will take you to the Rayong Aquarium, very good and only 30 Thai Baht entrance. You can also catch a ferry to Koh Samet island from the Ban Phe market about 15 minutes drive from the hotel.
Outside the hotel is a small minimarket selling essentials like sun glasses, swimming trunks, snacks, drinks, shampoo, etc. Opposite the hotel there are vendors along the road selling food and drinks and souvenirs so you can sit on deckchairs on the beach or under the shade of the trees and eat and drink easily. Prices are low, no overcharging in the hotel or the local area. The seafood is fresh (still alive) when you choose what you want...fish, crab or prawns. Not much more choice than that.
The beach is long and safe to walk along in day time or night time. The road is not busy. If you drive 10 minutes towards Rayong Town there is a nice view point at the border to the next district. Travellers without transport will have to wait for the two row buses (pick up trucks converted to buses) but we cannot say the frequency, we did not see too many. Or the hotel can arrange transport but not sure of the cost. The weekend we were there the hotel was quiet on the Friday night and full on Saturday night but not too noisy. Overall a relaxing place to stay for a few days and unwind. Good value for money.
