The hotel location is excellent, being in the middle of the town and surrounded by restaurants, departmental stores and the street shopping. The standard room that I had in the Hotel was decent but a bit disappointing if you are expecting a 4-star hotel rating. The bathroom was quite small although it had a bathtub. The bathroom could be improved as the taps were old and about to come apart.
Breakfast was buffet style and adequate. The Japanese buffet dinner available on Thu, Fri and Sat for Bt 525 was quite good as the spread was very wide.
Most staff were friendly. There was no wireless internet service and you have to pay quite expensively to use it in the business centre. You can access the internet for much cheaper in the various outlets outside the hotel.

The Novotel Hat Yai is a dated hotel: the bathroom especially had plaster pealing off the wall and was very unattractive. One concierge was particulary frustrating-- telling us he would check the bus times for us and telling us to wait in our rooms, only for us to call down and then come down (after repeated assurances) to find out he hadn't checked and that we should go ourselves to the station. It was 7pm and we asked if the station would still be open, and he said 'yes' only for us to arrive there and find the contrary. Although the manager eventually helped sort things out, no concessions were made to us. The positive aspects of this hotel were that it was quiet, centrally located, (with a nice resturant down the street-something talay if you walk past the Central on the same side of the hotel), and the breakfast was very good. If you're just stopping over for the night, as we were, the hotel is functional, but we wouldn't recommend staying too long.

1.If rating, i will rate NC-HY the worst claimed-to-be 4-star international hotel i have ever stayed from the aspect of overall service, bear in mind hotel room per night stay is not cheap in that area, but service is not up to international standards.
2. A claimed-to-be 4-star international hotel but provide NO free internet service to customer (in which most 3-star hotel globally do have free internet service either LAN or Wifi). The crucial info such that "no free internet service" and "internet service charges" were no appropriately populated on the hotel website. If it does I will definitely will NOT consider stay in that hotel.
3. Additional charges for internet service LAN/wifi ~ 200 Baht every 60 min, 500Baht every 24 hours, blood-sucking expensive (nearby lower-class hotels only charged 50Baht every 60 min.
4. The attitude of hotel staffs were not customer-friendly, they shown "black-face" to customers whenever they felt any queries from customers were annoying. In-fact they should always remember "customer always right".
5. When brought the no-free internet service matter to face-to-face discussed with the hotel manager, he informed a special pass-code for temporary short-term internet access can be release to customer under special/urgent circumstances. The special situation he only allowed me to chec one important email and that's it (WTF).
6. Even it got display in the hotel room, the hotel never exactly tell us which and which is FOC !

p/s: in future, I will definitely boycott this hotel and forbid my friends & family from stay in this hotel.

I had stayed in this hotel twice, back in 2009 and recently in May. The room amneties and facilities are still the same. The hotel lobby looks grand but the rooms look like it badly require touch-ups in some areas. Rust is easily visible in many corners where the paint had peeled off over time. But what I found most disappointing is the service standard. Its been just barely a year and there is such a vast difference. The warmth and personal touch of all the service staff had gone missing. Especially the friendly smiles which most people had come to connect with Thailand. Assistances are not readily rendered when I was desperately trying to make a local call from my room which cant be connected. It seems the hotel culture had changed just barely a year on.

Hotel situated in great location, the same bldg. to Central department store, nihgt shopping street all around. Food is good. Only very old crack bathtub need to fix.

Very good value for money. Room and food good. The rooms and hotel generally are quite tired but all are very clean, including towles and bed sheets. Swimming pool area is clean and pleasant. We have stayed in this area repeatedly and would say the Novotel is the best value for money with a near perfect location.

The rooms and location is almost perfect. Generally very satisfied with my stay there. But one very inconvenient thing is the hotel lifts. Guests will have go through two lifts to go from room to outside hotel or vice versa. Worse if u park your vehicle at basement, only one lift will go down there. Other than that, everything else great.
