Since then this theatre company has produced over 126 highly acclaimed plays till date.A foundation member of The Gold Coast Theatre Alliance Inc, the Spotlight Theatre in Brisbane at first used to produce reviews. But after that, the company started producing full musical comedy productions. In fact this theatre company had churned out 2 musicals each year till 1993. However post 1993 saw a huge leap in terms of quantity of musicals produced each year. The number of musicals produced more than doubled to 5 per year. The increase in quantity did not however come at the expense of quality. In fact the credit of this theatre company lies in the perfect amalgamation of quality with quantity. With Mr Clem Halpin presiding over this theatre company and being assisted by Lynn Hudman as Vice President and Graham Rushton as Publicity Officer, the Spotlight Theatre has been a household name in Brisbane's cultural circuit.
The Spotlight Theatre in Brisbane provides a unique opportunity to the locals to join the Spotlight Choir group. Anyone, irrespective of age and gender, can join the choir, which is held in the Basement theatre on every Monday at 7:30 in the evening. The only requisite is a knack for singing. Sing to the tunes of the famous music director, Erica Whyte with Beth Thompson as accompanist. This gives you a chance to perfect your singing prowess and you will certainly have a pleasurable evening.
The tickets can be booked over telephone and even by fax. However you should make sure that you book tickets in advance. Otherwise you may have to stand in a queue for a long time. It may also happen that even after standing for a long time in the queue you may find all tickets have been sold. So it is advisable to book your ticket in advance.
