The Boondall Wetlands Reserve lies at the edge of Moreton Bay between Shorncliffe, Nudgee Beach and Boondall. It has more than 1000 hectares of mangroves, saltmarshes, tidal flats, grasslands, melaleuca wetlands, woodlands and open forests.

The wildlife in the Boondall Wetlands Reserve is amazing. You can get to see a huge variety of mammals, reptiles, insects, and also vegetation when you visit this reserve. This is truly an animal and plant lovers' paradise. Here you will find the possums, flying foxes, bats and squirrel gliders. In this reserve you will also get to see the reptiles, frogs and butterflies. Birds are also found in great abundance and some of them are the tawny frogmouths, mistletoe birds, rainbow bee-eaters, eastern curlews, grass owls kingfishers and wrens. At the time of low tide the mudflats are filled with birds that come to feed. It is a fascinating site where one can see darters, cormorants, ibis, egrets and herons can be seen throughout the year.

The Boondall Wetlands Reserve has a wide range of activities and displays on the cultural heritage of the reserve and also the environment. Organized groups are allowed to enter the Reserve and there is no entry fee.

There are many interactive displays within the reserve and these help you to gain information about the park and its history.

Do not miss 18 aboriginal art totems. These totems were built for the recognition of the native Australians in the area.
