The Yarrabah Menmuny Museum which was opened officially in the year 1996 attracts a lot many tourists from abroad. Visitors coming to this place get a fair idea of Yarrabah from its initial days to the present day. The museum unravels before you the whole history of the Yarrabah community.

Yarrabah history
Anglican Church missionary Ernest Gribble interest in the aboriginal tribe inhabiting the Yarrabah area inspired the tribe to accomplish a mission. He with the tribal leader Menmuny carried ou the mission which is known as the Yarrabah community. The mission came to an ending in the late 1960s with the new Yarrabah community coming under the Queensland government.

The displays include the artifacts and the photos which have an inseparable connection with Yarrabah. The museum also houses many historical records that you can go through in order to form a fair idea.
. If you are interested in medicinal herbs and trees then this is the right choice for you as this place shows innumerable native trees which were used in the past due to its medicinal usage.

The museum is kept open for its tourists for all 9 days each fortnight from 8:30 in the morning to 4 in the evening.

How to get there
From the Bruce Highway you need to move some 20 kilometers south of Cairns. Take the road along trinity and move along it until you come across the steep hill of the Yarrabah community.
