Wild World The Tropical Zoo Cairns
Wild World - The Tropical Zoo of Cairns is a novel endeavor, in the sense, it does not conform to the traditional zoos. Instead it allows a free intermingling of man and animal and hence helps create a bond and promotes awareness about the natural habitat, habits and life of these creatures. Spread over a vast expanse of about six hectares, the Wild World Tropical Zoo has simulated the natural home of all its wild inmates as closely as possible. The visitors here touch, feed and pat the animals in glee and leave enlightened about their eating/ sleeping habits and lifecycle. They leave with a warm affection for the creatures and the Tropical Zoo is the perfect place to spend a day with family and children. Owned by the Freeman family, a known name in ecotourism in Australia, the Tropical Zoo can be reached by a 20 minute drive from Cairns City. The snakes are probably the only creatures in the Wild World that are held in glass cases. The adders, pythons, and a number of other reptiles such as varans, lizards and crocodiles can be viewed here. The animals housed here include a number of indigenous creatures such as wombats, dingoes, kangaroos and koala bears. The Wild World Tropical Zoo is also home to a number of trained birds such as eagles and owls.Address:
