Getting to Canberra by Road
You can reach Canberra both by bus and car if you choose to take the road.By Bus: There are plenty of bus services to Canberra. Note their names:
- Murray's Coaches: This agency runs 5 trips between Sidney and Canberra in a day. If you book a ticket for the express service, you can reach one and a half hour earlier than the normal time taken. The normal cost of a trip is $35 but you can also book a ticket for $15 if you make a reservation two weeks before the date of your travel. This bus will drop you at the Canberra City Centre.
- Greyhound pioneer: This bus service is as popular as the Murray's coaches and the fares are also almost the same as the former. However, the $15 tickets are often unavailable.
By Car: You can use your private car or hire a car to reach Canberra by road.
You can also reach Canberra by car. Canberra is 300 kilometers away from Sidney and 650 kilometers from Melbourne. It is convenient to take the Hume's Highway that connects Sidney and Melbourne and then take the Canberra turnoff just after Yass, the Barton Highway or Goulbourn, the Federal highway. It will take you approximately 40 minutes to reach Canberra from the turnoff.
