ACT Baha'i Centre Canberra

The Baha'i faith was established in Baghdad in 1863, and was officially founded in Canberra in 1957, with only a small group of members. It is now a rapidly expanding community comprising of about 130 members. The Baha'i religion encourages oneness across the world and is based on the teachings of Bahha'u'llah, the prophet founder of the Baha'i faith. It may be mentioned here that the Bahai Faith has got five million members worldwide. ACT Baha'i Centre, Canberra provides 'focus for worship' and renders various other educational and community services. . The ACT Bahá'í Centre, Canberra is open to everybody irrespective of their religious affiliations.

History of the ACT Baha'i Centre, Canberra- The ACT Baha'i Centre, Canberra was officially inaugurated on 10 December 1999 by the Governor General of Australia. Since then, the ACT Bahá'í Community has immensely contributed towards achieving its goals. However, in 2003, during the bushfires, which devastated Canberra, their work endured a major set back.

Various activities of the ACT Baha'i Centre, Canberra- Activities of the ACT Baha'i Centre, Canberra are as follows-

- Rendering weekly devotional service on Sunday morning, which includes readings from the scriptures of the world's religions.
- Conducting regular public meetings and discussing issues of interest relating to society at large.
- Providing education about oneness of humanity, fostering religious tolerance and promoting equality of men and women.

ACT Baha'i Centre, Canberra endeavors to be a model of a peace by propagating principles like oneness of humanity, oneness of religion, and by striving to eliminate gender discrimination.
