Theatre Royal Hobart

The oldest and the most majestic of all the theaters, Theatre Royal has been termed as "a dream of a theatre" (Noel Coward). This national treasure with a rich legacy to support it is among Australia's best working theaters producing a wide variety of entertainment events including live theatre, contemporary music and dances.

Established in 1837 with the aim of forming a permanent theater for the business leaders of Hobart town. Theatre Royal has come a long way ever since it was first conceived in 1834. The theater had been designed by Peter Degraves, but has been renovated and remodeled several times, to come into its present opulent format.

Royal Theatre of Hobart has been the performing ground for many stalwarts in the field of performing arts. Professional and amateur companies can also hire this theatre. Corporations and convention organizers for conferences, meetings, special events and special gatherings often use theatre Royal of Hobart.
