The National Institute of Dramatic Art Sydney was established in 1958. Acting was the only course offered to the 23 students when it first opened in 1959. Since then the institute has grown in magnitude. Full-time courses at National Institute of Dramatic Art Sydney are approved under the (NSW) Higher Education Act, 2001.
The institute offers a full-time Bachelor of Dramatic Art in acting, design, production and production crafts. A course in production crafts allows a student to specialize in costume or properties.
The Advanced Diploma of Dramatic Art at the National Institute of Dramatic Art is all about scenery construction.
Specialization in voice studies, movement studies or directing can be obtained through a Graduate Diploma of Dramatic Art and Master of Dramatic Art.
Here each course has a close link with the others as they are all important ingredients of a whole unit, be it film, television or theatre. Together these departments come up with nearly 25 plays a year with all the departments putting in their best.
Scholarship At National Institute of Dramatic Art Sydney
Scholarships are offered to the students of the National Institute of Dramatic Art Sydney to aid them with their living costs and are available to students eligible for full youth allowance or ABSTUDY in special circumstances. There are no scholarships for tuition fees. Second and third year students are favored for the scholarships. International students or students enrolled into one year courses are not eligible for the scholarships.
