The stadium has seen many titanic clashes over the years, the most notable amongst them being the 1989 and 1991 Rugby League Grand Finals.

However, the finest venue for rugby in Sydney is undoubtedly the massive and magnificent Telstra Stadium, with its seating capacity of about 81,000. It now hosts most of the major NRL matches, including the NRL Grand Final. It is one of the bases of the Canterbury Bulldogs, the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Wests Tigers rugby clubs.
