Nan Tien Temple Sydney
If you want to check out the largest Buddhist temple in the whole of Australia then you have to travel to the place of Berkeley which is a suburb of Wollongong and is situated in the state of New South Wales.The temple is one of the branches or branch temples Fo Guang Shan and was established by the great master Hsing Yun and has branches in over one hundred and twenty countries around the world.
The temple has been in existence for more than a decade and the number of tourist both local and foreign has been gradually increasing over the years.
The temple has beautiful rose gardens and features a beautiful pagoda along with shrines, a museum auditorium, 100 room accommodation and conference facilities. The ambience of the temple is wonderful as it located in a peaceful environment overlooking Mount Kembla and Mount Keira and is touted to be one of the best spiritual places to visit.
The temple has received a huge number of awards of excellence over the years which include the best design for lighting, best for architecture and an award for being a major tourist attraction among others.
The place is open everyday except Mondays from nine in the morning to five in the evening and the place is accessible by both rail and road. The buses usually take nearly forty minutes to from the suburb of Wollongong to reach the Nan Tien Temple.
Some rules and regulations one must follow while visiting the temple
o Consumption of meat and sea food is prohibited in the temple
o Consumption of any form of alcohol is not allowed in this holy place
o Patrons are expected to behave decently and should disrupt the peace and sanctity of the place
o Children should not be unaccompanied and should be under thorough supervision
o All kinds of photography is prohibited inside the premises in the temple
o One should come properly dressed while visiting the temple and should indulge in unnecessary exposure of the skin.
o Shoes and hats are not allowed inside the shrine and have to be taken off upon entering the shrines.
