Harbord Beach in Sydney

Experiencing Harbord Beach

Harbord Beach is one of the excellent Northern Beaches of Sydney that is situated between the Curl Curl and the Queencliff beaches. The beach is generally called the Freshwater Beach and is mainly frequented by families. The atmosphere of the Harbord Beach is undoubtedly peaceful and tranquil that allows the visitors to spend quality time with their near and dear ones.

Another important feature of the Harbord Beach is the hotel which I often called by the locals as Harbord Hilton. It is located at a distance of just 200m from the beach and is renovated in a new way in recent times. Pilu is another restaurant that is situated at the Freshwater and it is proud to get two hats in the Good Food Guide of Sydney Morning Gerald in the year 2006. This obviously speaks well about the quality of the food available here and the entertainment that it offers to the visitors. A League Club with the name of Harbord Diggers is present from where the ocean can be seen properly in the daytime.

Surfing is one of the greatest experiences that can be enjoyed in the Harbord Beach. Previously the beach area was inhabited by the Kuring-gai people that can be identified from the rock carvings and the shelters. This area was previously known as Freshwater Estate, the name was then changed do Harbord Beach. The Hawaiian Expert Duke Kahanamoku was the first to demonstrate board surfing to the viewers in the year 1915. at the northern side of the beach, the rock pool is located.

The beach is generally patrolled by the lifesavers and beach instructors especially in the months of September and April. The inspectors are also present from December to February from 9am till 6pm. On the other hand, volunteer life guards are available in the summer season on the weekends only.

The Harbord Beach Hotel is one of the delicious eating places here and attracts almost all the visitors to have a lunch or dinner. The contact number of this hotel is 02-9905-3434. The specialty of this hotel is undoubtedly the cooked sea food that is just mouth savoring.

Visiting the Harbord Beach in Sydney would undoubtedly be a life time experience. It is a popular destination for spending holidays with friends and family and is frequented by locals and tourists’ in the same way.
