Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) is the major airport in the southwest of the city of Chengdu. In China it is the fifth and 96th busiest airport allover the world. The airport is about 20 kilometers i.e. 12 miles from the center of the city of Chengdu. In 1938 the airport of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport started its first service as a military airport, during the second-Sino Japanese War and WWII. Presently it is an international civil airport offering flights to more than 20 international airports as well as most of the domestic airports. The downtown of Chengdu is connected with the airport by an express-way. While, the planned subway system connects to the airport as well.

- Airport Transportation

You can have an access to more than 70 domestic flight and services to more than 20 cities from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. The airport has the first cargo flight of its own to Frankfurt of Germany. It is also popular as the transportation hub of Southwest China.

After every 20 minutes interval a shuttle bus is available from the airport to the city center which takes about 35 minutes to reach. The fare charged is CNY 8-10. Lantian Hotel Stop, at second section of Renmin South Road beside China Southwest Airlines ticket office is where the first bus starts at 5.00. The taxi fare can be bargained to a reasonable rate of CNY 50 from the airport to the city center.
