China Public Holidays
The ethical and cultural background of the people belonging to the different regions of China vary to such a great extent that there cannot be one simple list including China Public Holidays . Therefore, it becomes imperative to classify the holidays of the different regions according to their cultural preferences. Keeping that in mind there are different lists of China Public Holidays for Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.
For the people living in the mainland China, national holidays are on the following days:
- New Year's Day - 1st January
- Spring Festival – Chinese New Year Day and two days after that
- Labor Day – 1 st May and 4 days more
- National Day – 1 st October and 4 days more
For Hong Kong inhabitants the holidays are on:
- New Year's Day - 1st January
- Lunar New Year's Day or the Spring Festival or Chinese New Year Day – two days added
- Ching Ming Festival – April 5
- Good Friday – to which the following Saturday and the Monday are also added
- Labor Day – May 1
- Buddha's Birthday – in May
- Tuen Ng – Dragon Boat Festival – In June
- Hong Kong SAR establishment Day – July 1
- Mid Autumn Festival – A one day holiday usually given in Friday or Monday
- National Day – October 1
- Chung Yeung Festival – in October
- Christmas Day – 25 December
- Boxing Day – 26 December
For Macau the China Public Holidays are on the same days as they are for the people of Hong Kong except for the SAR establishment day. There are certain variations in the days, like the National Day is a two days holiday. Other than that there are the following holidays:
All Soul's Day – November 2
Feast of the Immaculate Conception – December 8
Macau SAR Establishment Day – December 20
Winter Solstice – December 22
