The Forest Zoo in Dalian is located at Baiyunyanshui, the beautiful spot in the south of Dalian. The Zoo covers an area of about 1000 hectares and was shifted from the downtown center to the southern part of Dalian city to scenic place called white cloud mountain landscape. The shifting was done on October 15, 1995 and has hills to the back and sea in the front of the Zoo.

The Zoo was formally opened to the public on 24th of May 1997. The zoo exhibits more than 130 kinds of animals as divided into six sections. The six sections are herbivorous animal area, lion and tigers hill, monkey hill, bear hill, black orangutans garden and Asian elephant palace. The Forest Zoo is Dalian is famous the world over for breeding Northeast Tigers. There is a group of 12 Northeast tigers at present.

The animals can be seen in several zones which are all connected by three overpass bridges from the north to the south. There is a 1 kilometer long elevated sightseeing car from where you can get a magnificent view of the park. You can also see a falling music square with a decoration of 12 earthly branches, a laminated waterfall, YanShui lake, Birds heaven, peacock garden, apricot flower garden, silver river square and much more. The elevated car takes you to a height of about 259.6m form where you could enjoy panoramic views of the Dalian city.

The Forest Zoo in Dalian offers a number of services such as the barrier-free pass, public phone booths, restaurants, entertainment facilities for children and special cars for babies and the disabled. The services offer much convenience to the tourists who come to the park.
