Chongyang Festival is also known as the “double ninth festival” which usually takes place on the ninth day of the ninth month according to the Chinese lunar calendar. It is a celebration based on the philosophy of “yin and yang”, considered as the juxtaposed doctrine of nature. Yin is the feminine part of nature which is considered to be a negative force, while Yang is the masculine and thereby is positive.

In the occidental culture too the feminine forces are considered to be influenced by night fall, therefore, negative.
