The Sea World Plaza seems to get better every time you drop in. The star attraction of this place has been thrown open for the sake of business. The Minghua, a huge former cruise liner that sits in a pool of concrete, right adjacent to the beach, is accessible to the public and is illuminated at night, to add to its splendor. This is known as the ‘floating hotel’ which has a couple of levels out on the deck for the purpose of either drinking or taking in the scenery.

The German microbrewery offers guests gold, dark and wheat beers respectively. This is what you understand by touch of class with the requisite price tag of nearly 50 yuans each. As the evening commences, a violinist plays on the lower deck, and she definitely avoids the Titanic theme melody so that the notes waft in the sundown breeze across the plaza. This lends the entire area a sophisticated ambience, so much so that you might as well forget that you are in China.

After 9 pm, the orchestra is taken over by an energetic and versatile Filipino band called Fifth Element, which is perhaps the best in entire Southern China. However, sometimes it becomes difficult to keep up the pace – like switching from Bon Jovi to ballads in Chinese. Beneath the cruise, you will also find Indian, Thai, Italian and Cantonese restaurants and barbecue.
