The name of the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China translates as the "Nine-Village valley" after the nine Tibetan villages that border it. Locate in the Sichuan Province of China, the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China, serves both as a nature and wild life reserve. This reserve is positioned in a nook in the mountains in the County of Nanping. Aside of the mountains and the trees, the Jiuzhaigou National Park's claim to fame are its exquisite water bodies. Set in a sprawling 72,000 Sq Km this "Wonderland on Earth" is blanketed with forests, valleys, caves, lakes, trellised waterfalls, cataracts and streams.

The Jiuzhaigou National Park in China was recognized by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in the year 1992. Occupying a significant portion of the Minshan Mountain, the region was severely afflicted by illegal logging until 1979. So, finally to preserve the remaining area and also ensure that it thrives in future the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China was established by the government in 1982. Though few of the villages bordering the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China remain, the inhabitants of the area are still mostly Tibetans and Qiang Chinese people. The flora in the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China has a wide range and comprise of such species as bamboo and rhododendrons; while the rare species of animals include the Giant Pandas, Sichuan Takins and snub-nosed monkeys. The topography being mostly made up of calcium carbonate, formed out of tectonic and glacial activities, the place provides an ideal habitat for the flowers and other plants that grow there.

Some of the main attractions in the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China are: the Penjinghai Lake or "Miniature Landscape Lake", the Huohahai or "sparkling Lake", the Magic Mirror Cliff, the Long Lake, the Shuzheng Group of Lakes, the Nuorilang waterfalls, the Pearl Shoal, the Luweihai or "Reed Marshes", the Panda Lake Waterfall, the Swan Lake, the Hanging Dagger Spring, the Five Color Pool and the Wuhua Hai or "Five Flower Lake".
