Qian Mausoleum Xian
Xian the capital of Shaanxi Province in China, has many major and minor tourist spots and sites in store for you. Qian Mausoleum, Xian is one such significant tourist attraction in Xian.
Located on the top of Liangshan Hill, this mausoleum forms an eminent tourist site. It is planned in a way so as to resemble the city of Chang'an or present day Xian. The path leading to the Emperor's tomb is bordered with stone figures of humans and animals like lions, winged horses and ostriches. The amazing statues and splendid sculptures reveal Western Asian and Greek influences. This relates to the fact that the Tang rulers were much interested in trade with the foreign nations.
However ancient the mausoleum might be, Qian Mausoleum, Xian is still the same solid structure firmly standing on the ground. The area is 2.3 square meters approximately. The buildings feature a Pavilion, several corridors, the Sacrifice Hall and a Hall of Ministers. The entrance in the southern part comprises of two well-adorned octagonal columns. As soon as you enter, the first notable sculpture is that of the winged horses. Then there are the pair of ostriches and five pairs of horses. The ten pairs of military men carrying swords look awesome ! The stupendous human figures indicate the sixty one foreign envoys who attended the Emperor's funeral. Their names and their nation are engraved on the back side of the statues.
