Xian the capital city of Shaanxi Province in China harbors a wide range of tourist sites and spots. Zhao Mausoleum, Xian is one such remarkable tourist attraction in Xian.

Located in the Jiuzong Mountain, it is the largest royal mausoleum in the world. Zhao is the mausoleum of the glorious Emperor, Taizong of the Tang Dynasty. The site occupies an area of about 87.5 square miles. There are many satellite tombs of regal families, ministers and high officials. This place constitutes the five types of satellite tombs. It is said that, it was the wish of Empress Wende that her burial site must be against a mountain. In this mausoleum you will find some earthen or wooden commodities instead of something expensive. This was done to avoid theft.

The building of the Zhao Mausoleum, Xian took for about 107 years to finish. It commenced at the time of the burial of the in 636 and concluded in 741. After its completion, precious relics were kept on the ground. This mausoleum reflects the Chinese culture, economy and political scenario of the feudal class. It also indicates the artworks of the then society - paintings, sculptures and calligraphy. The exquisite wall paintings or murals in Zhao Mausoleum, depict the lifestyle of the Tang Dynasty. Amazing artworks can also be witnessed in the colorful and bright pottery figures. You will also note the magnificent Six Fine Horses – the charming figures of the six war horses of the Emperor. They were Shifachi, Qingzhui, Quanmaogua, Telebiao, Saluzi and Baitiwu.

The entrance fee to this site is about CNY 20.

Apart from Zhao Mausoleum, Xian has many other tourist places like the Great Mosque, the Green Dragon Temple, Straw Hut, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Xiangji Temple, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Tang Dynasty Palce and Xi'an City Wall.
