- Emerald Mines- this is also known as the Cleopatra Mines and it is a famous mining spot. The mines at Gebel Zabara, Wadi Gimal, Wadi Nuqrus and Wadi Sikeit, were mined during the Roman and the Ptolemaic times but fell into disuse after the Spaniards found emeralds in Columbia. The ruins of the Sikeit and Zabara mining settlements are still there along with temple structures that are worth watching.
- Bir Umm Fawakhir- it lies north of the Wadi Hammamat. The place is famous for the huge mines that are there. The place is fascinating because of the ancient inscriptions that are etched on the granite boulders and the buildings that are neatly laid out.
- Mons Claudianus- this place lies in the desert region in between the Red Sea and the Nile and has the fascinating ruins of a Roman settlement. Here you can get to see the incomplete Temple of Venus, objects in the Pantheon and in the Hadrian's Villa.
