Getting to Ras El Sudr
Situated some 190 kms from Cairo, and 45 kms from Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel, Ras El Sudr or Ras as Sidr, is the second most important town on the Gulf of Suez after El Tor. The city is accessible by air, rail, and road transport if you are planning getting to Ras El Sudr.The Ras El Sudr Port is primarily meant for loading oil. This terminal is located on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Suez on the Sinai Peninsula. There are slow and fast ferry services linking Hurghada with Sharm el-Sheikh in Sinai. The traditional sailing boats on the River Nile operate both upstream and downstream on Mondays, Fridays and Wednesdays. Traffic drives on the right. Apart from the extensive road networks, there are the paved roads along the Mediterranean and African Red Sea coasts. The speed limit is well within 100 kph. Private motoring in desert stretches is not recommended without suitable vehicles and a guide. The national bus system serves the Nile Valley and the coastal road. Taxis are available and they are metered. Long-distance group taxis for all destinations are cheap.
