Paris is famous for hosting events and festivals throughout the year. One such important event held in Paris is the famous Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. This event is really popular in Paris and people from all over the world come here in Paris and have a really nice time here.

The Event:

Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is actually a Group 1 flat horse race for all three year olds and above thoroughbreds which seem to be running at a distance of 2,400 meters and the race takes place on the Longchamp Racecourse in Paris, France. The Longchamp race course is actually a large horse shoe loop that seems to be rising gently initially before gradually going down to the right hand bend leading to almost 500 meters or 2 and a half furlongs. The race brings with it winners of the Derby races at Epsom and in Ireland, Italy and Germany. The purse money equals an amount of €1, 600,000.

History of the Event:

The first ever race that was run here was at Longchamp and was held on Sunday April 27th 1857 in front of a massive crowd. Napoleon III and his wife Eugenie had graced the occasion. There was a prize money of 25millions francs and which went on to make the race one of the richest Weights for Age race in Europe.

Description of the Event:

The event is very important and is hailed by many to be the perfect event taking place here. This is an early autumn season race and the race sees people from the best of the Paris elite fraternity coming here at this point of time to witness the event. The people come here in the best of their clothes in the race only to be a part of this event. The people gathered here can have a nice time as the champaigne flows. The crowd remains on their tows while cheering the horses and their favorite horses. The total prize money reaches an amount of €1,600,000.


One can reach the racecourse by traveling by Metro of the Porte d'Auteuil.
