Cologne is the fourth largest city in Germany and lies at the Rhine. It is one of the oldest cities in Germany. It was founded by the Romans in the year 30 B.C. and was granted status of a "city" twenty years later. So this city has also a very particular historical importance.

Cologne is the cultural as well as the economic capital of Rhineland and has a very vivid art scene. It boasts of over 30 museums and art galleries. The Trade Fair Grounds host shows like Art Cologne Fair, International Furniture Fair and Photokina.

The night life of Cologne is equally interesting. Almost every evening one witnesses concerts, theaters, plays, operas and ballet performances so that gives one plenty to choose from!

The bars of Cologne deserve a special mention as there are a large number of pubs to entertain the visitors. One of the best bars would have to be the Päff Bar. The bar boasts of 1970s-style interior and modern sounds. Päff is a great place with an excellent ambience and is perfect to have a laid back and chilled out time.

Päff is located in the center of the hip and happening Friesenstrasse and is a great place to grab a locally brewed beer. One can strike up a conversation with the locals in the next booth and enjoy the sounds from the resident DJ. The large central bar is a major part of the overall style of the location.

Päff has been a very popular hangout for the Cologne student scene. Every night one can find a really colorful and easygoing clientele enjoying here. The Päff is far from a stylish cocktail lounge or the like but is more like a comfortable and chilled out pub with a certain dive bar flair thereby giving the cutting edge to this establishment.

The chillout lounge is yet another great attraction of Päff featuring space age wall decorations with comfortable lounge seats. The main room contains a long bar and more seats along the walls. This place is easy going and should be on one's "Must Visit" list!
