Hafen Dusseldorf
Located in western Germany; Dusseldorf is a modern city. Housing more than 18 internet service providers and main mobile networks like Vodafone etc; this city is now considered as a major telecommunication and electronics hub in Germany. However do not be fooled by this city’s modern exterior. The history of this city dates back to over a thousand years. Once a capital of the Berg emperors; this city is witness to many bloody battles. Though the city suffered massive destruction during the Second World War; many of the old constructions still remain. Hafen is an old port which has metamorphosed itself into a famous tourist destination
Hafen is an old port at Speditionstrasse, Dusseldorf in Germany. The harbor was built in the 16th century. It was however not until the 19th century that this harbor was completed. When the work was finally over the harbor came to be regarded as one among the most advanced inland ports in entire Germany. It is however curious to know that despite being a modern harbor with all kinds of facilities, Hafen never achieved the same prestige that its counterparts in Germany have had achieved.
Since Hafen in Dusseldorf had not become a busy port, so in the end of the 70s it was decided that a provincial parliament would be built. To achieve that, part of this harbor was filled in and the parliament building was constructed. The harbor area at present has now become a small media town. Home to production studios of film, TV and radio companies; this venue has become a perfect location to simulate naval battle scenes.
The European Media Institute is located at Hafen in Dusseldorf. Designed by American architect Frank O. Gehry, the city gate and the housing complex are real eye candies. Since this area has now become a major tourist hub; so many restaurants and pubs have also opened up at Hafen. Many consider this place to be an apt advertisement of Dusseldorf’s modern makeover.
