Hauptfriedhof cemetery in Frankfurt is the resting place for notable personalities like Alois Alzheimer and Camile Armand Jules Marie. Alois Alzheimer was born in the year 1864 in Bavaria. He was a noted German psychiatrist and neuropathologist. In fact he was the one who first published the case of “presenile dementia”, which now after Alois was termed as the Alzheimer’s disease. The disease slowly degenerates the brain cells and as a result the patient suffers from amnesia. However this disease is lethal as death is the final outcome. Found mainly in old people, Alzheimer’s is no doubt a killer. Died on 19 December 1915Alois Alzheimer now rests in peace at Hauptfriedhof cemetery in Frankfurt.

A French soldier Camile Armand Jules Marie who fought in America’s Civil War is buried at Hauptfriedhof cemetery in Frankfurt. He was in fact the highest ranked foreign soldier to have fought in the civil war. It is puzzling that how this French soldier ended up in this Frankfurt cemetery. Nonetheless he is remembered for his contribution in the civil war.
