The Alte Oper is one of the most celebrated opera houses of Germany. Located in the city of Frankfurt, this amazing opera house serves as a venue for a large number of cultural shows that are held in the country.

The Alte Oper, Germany was established and opened to the public in the year 1880 on the 20th of October, by a gentleman named Kaiser Wilhelm. The huge building was designed by architect Richard Lucae of Berlin. The cost of constructing this huge structure was financed by the people living in Frankfurt. It is a fine example of Italian Renaissance architecture.

This fabulous opera house is one of the major concert halls of the city of Frankfurt in Germany. The hall suffered extensive damage during the Second World War, in the year 1944. However, it was rebuilt in the 1964 and was renamed as the Old Opera Concert and Conference Center. Over the years the opera house underwent extensive renovation and development and was finally opened for public performances and other shows on August 28th, 1981. At present the Alte Oper, Germany consists of one large hall called the Grosse Saal and a smaller hall called the Mozart Saal. The larger hall has an audience capacity of 2500, while the smaller one has a total of 700 seats. The main hall is located right in the center of the opera house. It is used for a large number of cultural shows and concerts. The smaller halls and rooms can be hired for smaller functions. There is also a restaurant and café located in the opera house premise form where you can get some light snacks and beverages.

A large number of shows are regularly held in the Alte Oper, Germany. In fact, this fabulous opera house has been the venue for numerous inaugural shows like Carl Orff's Carmina Burana that was held in the year 1937. Another major performance that was held in this opera house was Benjamin Britten's War Requiem. This was held in the year 1981 when the hall re-opened after extensive renovation and refurbishment.
