Stuttgart offers an excellent network of internal transport to facilitate a smooth travel in and around the city. The city has a regular service of trains, trams and buses, linking the various quarters of Stuttgart, thus making it easy for the commuters to move across the city.

Trains in Stuttgart: Trains in Stuttgart are primarily operated by the Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund Stuttgart or VVS. Stuttgart’s railway comprises of the U-Bahn and the S-Bahn which feeds the city with a regular network of trains. About 12 U-Bahn lines crisscross the city, linking its various parts. The suburbs are connected to the main city with 6 S-Bahn lines. The S-Bahn trains are faster than the U-Bahn ones. Most of the train lines pass through Hauptbahnhof, linking different parts to the heart of Stuttgart. The central stations like Hauptbahnhof, Schlossplatz, Charlottenplatz, Stadtmitte (Rotebühlplatz), Feuersee, Rathaus, Staatsgalerie, and Berliner Platz (Liederhalle) link the rails to the outskirts.

A special train service known as the rack-railway runs between Stuttgart-Marienplatz and Stuttgart-Degerloch, providing another convenient mode of transport for the passengers.

Trams in Stuttgart: The city is crisscrossed by a number of tram tracks which operate with a regular tram service. The light rails, or trams run along the main streets of the city on tracks which are slightly raised to differentiate them from the car routes.

Bus in Stuttgart: Buses offer a regular and affordable mode of transport in the city. Since a number of buses are operated by the Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund Stuttgart, a VVS ticket allows one to travel both by trains and buses. Traveling late in Stuttgart is no problem as a number of night buses operate specially on weekends to carry the ones who wish t party till late hours. The night bus service however, is not frequent enough as the buses run at a gap of an hour.

Taxi in Stuttgart: Taxis provide a convenient mode of transport, especially for the late hours when the other public transports are not available. A large number of cars run across the city allowing the passengers a comfortable trip. The taxis however, are more expensive than the above mentioned modes.

Cycle in Stuttgart: The topography of Stuttgart makes cycling a little difficult in the city, though a number of cycle tracks are there for the ones who prefer the activity. Fantastic cycling tracks are laid between the Black Forest and the Swabian Mountains, allowing the cyclers to experience the picturesque views which the route offers. Another beautiful and easy to travel cycle route runs from the Schloßgarten and moves along the Neckar valley to Remseck and the Max-Eyth-See Lake.
