More Museums
Stuttgart has many more Museums, some of which are as follows-Porsche Museum
Lying next to the automobile plant in Stuttgart, Porsche Museum houses a modest collection in terms of numbers but extremely significant when one considers the history of Porsche. In fact Porsche Museum has no more than 20 car models on display, but they are effective in tracing the evolution of Porsche into world's leading car manufacturer. A new museum- to be located beside the present museum- promises to be much grander with more number of exhibits is slated to be inaugurated soon.
Through its collection, Porsche Museum seems to attest Porsche's motto which says 'small but good'. The models in the museum are changed frequently all the year round.
Porsche Museum is open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5 pm. No entry fee is charged to take a tour of the Museum.
Württembergisches Landesmuseum
Württembergisches Landesmuseum was established in 1862 but its bricks were laid long before in the sixteenth century when the dukes of the age started gathering artifacts that struck them as both unusual and precious. The accumulated collection soon began to take the shape of important relics of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Roman Empire and other episodes from history where were all soon preserved under the roof of a Museum.
One of the most fascinating exhibits in Württembergisches Landesmuseum is a wagon which dates back to the 6th BCE. The wagon was disinterred from a burial chamber in Eberdingen-Hochdorf. The body of the dead had not been placed on the wagon, but was placed on burial couch in the chamber. The plates found on the wagon indicated that it was laden with banquet.
Württembergisches Landesmuseum also has a remarkable collection of swords
and weapons that were retrieved from the graveyards of the Migration Period.
