Linking the Tsing Yi and the Ma Wun Islands, over the Ma Wun Channel, is the sixth largest suspension bridge of the world, the Tsing Ma Bridge, Hong Kong.Work on this bride started in the year 1992 and completed in the year 1997, when it was inaugurated by Baroness Thatcher. The Bridge carries six lanes of vehicle traffic along with two rail tracks. It is said that there are so many cables in this bridge that it could circle the world four times!

The total length of the bridge can easily compete with the tallest skyscrapers of the world at 206 meters. It was built as a joint venture by the Trafalgar House Construction (Asia) Limited (a part of the Kvaerner Group of Norway), Costain Civil Engineering Limited of Britain, and Mitsui and Co. Limited of Japan
