Old China Hand has a history as long as an old China arm. It is an informal English pub popular with older expats. The Old China Hand is located at street level below the New Makati Disco and in between a mix of gogo bars and classier bars, is probably the most well known of the expat bars in Hong Kong, is truly the favourite of many and has significant connections with the old Wan Chai of Suzie Wong. It's quite a small place though and can get rather overcrowded, especially during the screening of major sporting events. Named one of Asia's top bars by a London newspaper, the lagers are always nicely chilled, perfect for those mid-afternoon sessions in the summer heat.

Despite its reputation as a cross between a pub and a greasy-spoon serving good, heart-clogging grub, the cooked breakfasts are medicinal in the early hours of the morning. It usually attracts, well, old China hands. In the tradition of the pub lunch, meals include steak-and-kidney pie, fish and chips, sandwiches, salads, chili con carne, and a fixed-price lunch priced at HK$49 (US$6.35). Happy hour is daily from noon to 10pm and midnight to 2am. There's live music Sundays from 5 to 11pm. It's open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday; the rest of the week it's open from 8am to 5am.

Decorated is the style of a traditional British Pub, it's a good place to meet colleagues during the day or early evening, or a lively place late at night and is ideally situated for passing trade along the small strip of girlie bars and very close to the Wan Chai MTR station. They also have free internet access throughout the daytime and have regular happy hours early on in the evening.
