The Hollywood Road Hong Kong

The Hollywood Road Hong Kong

Hollywood Road is an antique lover's paradise. Built in 1844 by the British army, Hollywood Road can be connected from Elgin Street or Peel Street. Linking Sheung Wan to Central, Hollywood Road is filled with curio and antique shops of all kinds: from Chinese furniture to porcelain ware, from Buddha sculptures to oriental rugs, from Japanese netsukes to Coromandel screens. Aside from all the antique shops, it has numerous small specialty shops that sell unique home accessories and handmade products. Many of them are inside buildings on upper floors, so always remember to look above street level so as not to miss them.

You will also find furniture shops selling rattan, Blackwood chests, snuff bottles and small and delicate perfume bottles. Most of these shops are not like any other antique or furniture shops. Browsing through is not enough; one should explore and be vigilant of the items displayed on the shelves and dark corners. For the most part, a lot of the serious collector's items are not cheap. But there are a few shops that sell bric-a-brac, such as old Chinese books and records, posters, and badges etc. The shops can help you arrange shipping of large items back home.
