Channapatna, Bangalore is a small and one of the oldest towns of Karnataka. It is located nearly 60 kilometers from the city of Bangalore. Apart from this, you can pay a visit to Varadaraja. This is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The idol was installed by Sri Ramanujacharya. It is an example of ancient Dravidian styled architecture and you can get to relief sculptures on the walls of the temple. Other temples that are worth paying a visit include those of Lakshminarayana and Nilakanteswara.

Channapatna, Bangalore is particularly famous for its wooden handicrafts. In fact, the wooden toys made here are simply fabulous. You can walk down the streets of the town and check out the wooden toys sold in the numerous shops. In fact, the town is also known as "Gombegala Ooru", which in English means Toys Town. You can find a large number of shops selling both traditional as well as modern toys. Lacquer ware is also famous over here. Other handicraft items that this place is famous for includes door hangings, powder boxes and traditional jewellery.
